Merritt Denham has joined the Syracuse University women's rowing program as an assistant coach. Denham, a former rower at the University of Wisconsin, joins 2024 ACC Coach of the Year Luke McGee's staff after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Dartmouth.
"We are excited to welcome Merritt Denham as our new assistant coach to Syracuse Women's Rowing," McGee Said. "She has an incredible work ethic and excitement for developing student-athletes and she will be a vital member of our team as we continue to drive Syracuse Women's Rowing to new heights of success. Go Orange!"
While with the Big Green, Denham was responsible for coaching Dartmouth's third varsity and fourth varsity eight group. She planned and managed all team travel including meals, compliance paperwork and transportation logistics while also tracking CARA logs and led the walk-on clearance process.
"I'm grateful for this opportunity and could not be more excited to join the Syracuse staff," Denham said. "Luke, Madison, and Michael have built a strong program, and I look forward to helping the Orange keep climbing!"
This past summer, Denham was the U23 Selection Camp Director of Operations for US Rowing. She also served as the Evergreen Camp Director of Ops at Dartmouth from 2022-23.
Denham was a four-year letterwinner at UW-Madison and was named the female recipient of the Athletic Department's Unsung Hero Award in 2016. She graduated from Wisconsin with a bachelor of science in neurobiology and psychology in 2017.
Her first day with the Orange was Dec. 17.
