Burrows Named ACC Player of the Week

Syracuse University sophomore Sophie Burrows has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, the league announced Monday. The honor recognizes her exceptional performance during Syracuse's 2-0 week, which included victories over Pittsburgh and Clemson, helping the Orange to a 21-5 overall record and 11-4 mark in the ACC.
Burrows averaged a double-double over the two-game stretch, posting 18.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while adding 5.0 assists and maintaining remarkable ball security with just 0.5 turnovers per contest. Her efficiency on both ends of the floor was instrumental in Syracuse's success during the critical conference stretch.
In the road victory at Pittsburgh on Feb. 12, Burrows led the Orange with 18 points while shooting an impressive 70 percent from the field. She was particularly effective from beyond the arc, connecting on four of her six three-point attempts. The junior also contributed five rebounds and three assists in the 33-point win over the Panthers.
Burrows followed that performance with a dominant showing against Clemson on Feb. 15, recording a career-high 16 rebounds, including eight on the offensive glass. She paced Syracuse with 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting and added two assists without committing a turnover. Her ability to control the boards and score efficiently helped the Orange secure their second consecutive conference victory of the week.
Perhaps most impressive was Burrows' ball control throughout the week, committing just one turnover across 57 minutes of game action. Her 5.0 assist-to-turnover ratio demonstrated her mature decision-making and growing leadership role for Syracuse.
This marks Burrows' first ACC Player of the Week honor of her career. The recognition highlights her emergence as one of the conference's premier all-around players and a key component of Syracuse's success in ACC play.
The Orange currently sit third in the ACC standings and next play at NC State on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. on The CW.Â
