
Road Swing Continues for the Orange

TOWSON, Md. -- Sixth-ranked Syracuse will play its second of three straight games on the road when it travels to Towson, Md. to face the No. 18 Tigers on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Orange enters the contest with a record of 5-1, while Towson is 4-1.
The game will be broadcast live by WJPZ 89.1FM in the Syracuse area and on Orange All Access on SUathletics.com.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Towson is led by senior Meggie McNamara, who has a team-high 20 points this season on 11 goals and a team-best nine assists. Senior Britt Woodfield leads the squad with 12 goals, while junior Nikki Marcinik also has netted 11 goals this season. Freshman goalkeeper Mary Teeters has started all five games for the Tigers. She has an 8.09 goals-against average an a .515 save percentage.
SYRACUSE-TOWSON SERIES
Tuesday's game is the fifth all-time between the Orange and Tigers. Syracuse holds a 4-0 advantage in the series.
The two squads met twice last season, including a first-round NCAA Tournament match up in the Carrier Dome. With the score tied, 2-2, Katie Rowan scored on an assist from Christina Dove to spark the Orange on a 7-0 scoring run. Syracuse led, 13-5, at the half and continued its offensive production in the second half on its way to a 12-goal victory. Rowan set an NCAA Tournament and school records with eight assists and 13 points. Liz Hogan made 11 saves in goal for the Orange, the highest total for any goalkeeper in the first round.
LOONEY REACHES CENTURY MARK
Senior Bridget Looney picked up her 100th career ground ball in the Orange's victory at Connecticut. She led the team in ground balls in 2007 when she picked up a career-best 42. Kim Wayne holds the school record for ground balls in a career with 144.
A LOOK AT TUESDAY'S GAME
Syracuse and Towson have met four times in women's lacrosse. The Orange has won all four previous meetings ... Syracuse returns to Johnny Unitas Stadium where it faced Northwestern in the NCAA Tournament semifinals last season. Towson will host the 2009 NCAA Championship again this season ... Tuesday's game is the second of three straight games on the road for the Orange. Syracuse plays at Northwestern on Sunday. This season, the Orange plays nine regular-season games on the road, the most in school history.
