
Orange Takes on Cornell in Final Non-Conference Contest

Ithaca, N.Y. -- After a brief two-game home-stretch, No. 11 Syracuse goes back on the road for its final non-conference game of the regular season at Cornell at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in Ithaca, N.Y. The Orange enters the game with an overall record of 9-4, 4-1 in BIG EAST Conference play, while the Big Red are 4-7 overall, 3-3 in Ivy League action.

THE SERIES
Syracuse leads the all-time series against Cornell, 8-5. The Orange has won the last three games against the Big Red. Last season, the Orange defeated the Big Red, 11-8, at the Carrier Dome. Seniors Christina Dove and Halley Quillinan combined for three goals in the victory.
NEW YORK STATE OF MIND
Wednesday's game marks Syracuse's second game against an in-state opponent during the 2010 season. The Orange has dominated its opponents from New York state since its arrival on the women's lacrosse scene. The team currently owns a 34-5 record against in-state schools (.872 winning percentage). In addition, the team has never lost to a New York state team at the Carrier Dome and holds a ten-game winning streak over in-state opponents.
ORANGE SWEEPS BIG EAST WEEKLY AWARDS
For the second time this season, the Orange swept the BIG EAST Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week honors. Senior midfielder Christina Dove and junior goalkeeper Liz Hogan (Victor, N.Y.) won BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Dove finished with nine points on four goals and five assists in the Orange's two victories. Against Loyola, Dove registered a career-high four assists. Hogan recorded 29 saves and posted a 7.00 goals-against average in the team's two games. Against Villanova, Hogan had a career-high 16 saves.
