SU to Run in the John Reif Memorial

In its final meet before the BIG EAST Championships, the Syracuse cross country team will travel to the 26th annual John Reif Memorial on Friday, Oct. 19th. The women will kick off race, running a five-kilometer course at 4:30 p.m. The men will run in the five-mile race at 5 p.m.

Participating in the race alongside Syracuse will be host Cornell, SUNY Cortland, Ithaca College, and Niagara.

- The No. 16th men's team ran to an 11th place finish in a race that featured 46 teams.
- Sophomore Andrew Palmer  was the top-finisher for SU and came in 56th with a time of 24:03.
- Senior Griff Graves was the next finisher for SU. Graves finished in 66th with a time of 24:07. Behind him was freshman Martin Hehir in 72nd (24:09) and junior Joe Whelan (24:12). Sophomore Max Straneva ran to a 130th place finish at 24:26 with Robert Molke (152nd, 24:30) and Ryan Urie (181st, 24:36) finishing out the Orange.
- The women ran to a 22nd place finish in a field of 49 teams.
- Senior Sarah Pagano led the Orange women for the third straight meet, running to a 24th place finish with a time of 20:06. Â
- For the women, junior Alexandra Clinton finished in 123rd (20:56) and sophomore Jessie Peterson completed the race in 20:59 in 133rd place. Junior Erin Cawley's time of 21:06 was good for 152nd place. Freshman Brianna Nerud completed the race in 21:09 in 163rd, while fellow freshman Angelica Peck completed the race in 21:14 in 178th. Junior Kimberly Spano came in 213th with a time 21:26.
SU in the Polls
- The Syracuse men's cross country team checked in this week at No. 16
- The Orange garnered its highest ranking so far this season coming in at number 10 last week.
- The men have won three races so far: Harry Lang Invitational, the Dartmouth Invitational and the Toledo Bubble Buster.Â
- In the regional rankings, the men are ranked at third in the Northeast Region behind Iona. The women are ranked sixth in the Northeast Region.
- The women took first at the Harry Lang Invitational and third at the Dartmouth Invitational. They ran to a fifth place finish in a tough Toledo Bubble Buster race.
