
Hillsman's Dutch Fourth At Euro U18s

BUCHAREST, Romania - The Netherlands Under-18 Women's National Team, with Syracuse head coach Quentin Hillsman on its staff, recorded its best finish ever at the FIBA U18 European Championship, placing fourth out of 16 countries.
The Netherlands, coming off its previous all-time best finish of fifth in last year's event, Hillsman's first on its staff, bettered its result this year, making it to the bronze medal game in Hillsman's second year.
The Dutch squad lost to Serbia, 59-46, in Sunday's bronze medal game. It finished the tournament 5-4 overall, including a perfect 3-0 mark in pool play, winning its group outright for the first time in the tournament's history.
Hillsman brought his signature style of defense and rebounding to the Netherlands team as it finished first out of the 16 teams in opponent field goal percentage (.310), opponent 2-point field goal percentage (.347) and defensive rebounds per game (33.7). The Dutch were third in the tournament in total rebounds per contest (46.3) and allowed field goals per game (20.8).
