Dartmouth Invitational Preview

The Syracuse cross country team heads to the Dartmouth Invitational this Saturday, Sept. 8th at 10:30 a.m. The No. 9 women and No. 12 men travel to Hanover, N.H. after capturing wins in both the men's and women's races at the Harry Lang Invitational last week.

"The kids that ran in the Harry Lang race, did great," said head coach Chris Fox. "We are really happy on the men's side with Joe Kush and Andrew Bennison. Griff Graves was back after basically two years with injuries. It was all very positive. On the women's side, Katie Fleischer did really well and we were really pleased with that. The women in general ran really well."

Dartmouth Invitational Preview

The Dartmouth Invitational will take place at the Hanover Country Club
Men race at 10:30 a.m. in the 8k race. Syracuse will race against Middlebury and Dartmouth.
Women race at 11:10 a.m. in the 5k race. SU will race against UConn, Middlebury, No. 3 Georgetown and Dartmouth.

Harry Lang Recap

The men captured the Harry Lang Invitational title, placing six SU harriers in the top-10. Redshirt senior Griff Graves led the way for the Orange, finishing in place with a time of 20:06. In third place was freshman Joe Kush (20:07), fourth place was sophomore Andrew Bennison (20:08), and fifth place was redshirt senior Forrest Misenti (20:17). Redshirt sophomore Jon Sequeri ran to an eighth place finish at (20:21), David Wilson finished in ninth place (20:25), redshirt freshman Juris Silenieks finished in 13th at (20:35). . Jon Aziz finished in 20:51 in 22nd. Senior Zach Rivers ran 21:22 to finish in 36th while freshman Corey Dowling completed his first race for the Orange in 68th place (22:35). Redshirt junior Andrew Nelson ran a time of 23.29 to finish in 83rd place.
The women ran to their first win of the 2012 season and finished five runners in the top-10. Sophomore Katie Fleischer led SU to the finish line, finishing her first race in the Orange in 16:02 in second place. Behind her was redshirt junior Kimberly Spano in third (16:08), redshirt sophomore Molly Malone (16:11) and freshmen Angelica Peck (16:11). Redshirt freshman Katherine Kinkhead finished in 16:36 in tenth place.Sophomore Katie Weisenburger completed the race at the No. 33 spot in 17:14 while sophomore Beth Wright ran to a 36th place finish at 17:20.

Honor Roll

Sophomore Katie Fleischer garnered the first SU cross country accolade this season after being named the BIG EAST Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the week of Sept. 3rd. Fleischer was the top Orange finisher in the Harry Lang Invitational and raced to an overall second place finish with a time of 16:02.

SU in the Polls

The women's team broke into the top-10 of the 2012 USTFCCA Preseason National Poll with a No. 9 ranking, receiving 246 votes
The men were ranked at No. 12 in the preseason poll after receiving 216 votes
In the regional rankings, the women were ranked at the No. 1 spot of the Northeast Regional bracket
The men were placed at the No. 2 spot following Iona in the Northeast Preseason Regional rankings
Both the men and the women captured the Northeast Regional title for the third consecutive season in 2011
