SYRACUSE, N.Y.--After taking a weekend off, the Syracuse cross country team is back in action at two meets this weekend. First up for the Orange is the Coast-to-Coast Battle in Beantown, an invitational hosted by Boston College on Friday afternoon. Members of the women's team will travel to the Roy Griak Invitational at Minnesota for the race on Saturday.
The Orange will take on new conference foe Boston College and many teams from the northeast region, including four teams ranked in the top 15 of the men's regional poll and seven from the women's.
There will be stiff competition in both races, with No. 1 Providence, No. 3 Oregon, No. 9 Cornell and No. 24 Boston College competing for the women and No. 12 Oregon and No. 25 Providence competing for the men. The Orange men are the highest ranked in the race with a No. 9 national ranking.
Of the 26 women's teams competing on Saturday at the Roy Griak Invitational, seven are nationally ranked and three, including SU, are receiving votes in the USTFCCCA weekly poll. No. 5 Arizona is the highest ranked of the bunch.
Two weeks ago the men's team took a first place finish at the Dartmouth Invitational and the women's team finished in second place behind No. 6 Georgetown by just eight points.
