Syracuse Travels to Colgate Tonight

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The Orange ice hockey team finishes its series with Colgate on Tuesday night at Starr Arena in Hamilton, N.Y. at 7 p.m. The Orange won its first contest with the Raiders with a last-second goal at the end of regulation. The game will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel.

COLGATE NOTES
• The Raiders are 5-14-2 so far this season. In the first meeting with Colgate, SU scored a last-second goal to top the Raiders, 2-1 at the Onondaga War Memorial on Nov. 26.
• The Colgate offense is ranked 31st (of 34), averaging 1.57 goals per game. Its defense ranks 25th, allowing an average of 2.86 goals per game.
• On the power play, the Raiders rank 28th with an 11.1 conversion percentage. Its penalty kill unit has been successful this season, stopping the opponent man-advantage 88.0 percent of the time, which is the 10th best mark in Division I hockey.
• Miriam Drubel leads the team in points with 14 including a team-high six goals. Taylor Volpe has 10 points on the season including six goals, three of which were on the power play.
• Brittney Brooks is the main goalie for the Raiders, playing in 11 contests this year. She has a 3-6-1 record and a team-best 2.29 goals against average and .915 save percentage.

READY FOR THEIR CLOSE UP
• This game will be televised on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, the fourth time the Orange has appeared on the channel so far this year.
• Syracuse had two home games televised this season for the first time in program history. Time Warner Cable SportsChannel broadcasted the Colgate and Cornell games played at the War Memorial.
• Every home game and road CHA game is streamed live online on AmericaOneSports.com.
• In total, TWCS has agreed to air seven games involving College Hockey America teams. The Rochester Institute of Technology will host five TV games including two against Syracuse.
• Thus far, the Orange has appeared on television four times this season, twice at home and twice on the road.

ORANGE BY NUMBERS
• The Orange has more wins on the road than at home, compiling a 6-5-1 record at opponent sites and a 4-4-1 record between Tennity Ice Pavilion and the Onondaga War Memorial, its home sites.
• Syracuse wins or ties 69 percent of the time when scoring before its opponent, wins 67 percent of the time when leading after the first period and wins 86 percent of the time when leading after the second period, losing only three when it took a lead after the first 20 minutes and only once when it had an advantage with one period remaining.
• With an active offense, SU rarely loses. The Orange is 7-2-0 when outshooting an opponent and 8-2-1 when it scores three or more goals in a contest. SU has also never lost a game when it holds its opponent to one goal.
• Syracuse wins or ties 63 percent of the time when it scores a power play goal though it is 50/50 for a positive outcome whether or not they allow a man-up score.

SPECIAL TEAMS SUCCESS
• Syracuse leads College Hockey America and is seventh in the nation on the power play, converting 18.6 percent of the time.
• The Orange has scored a man-up goal in each of the last five contests which has improved its conversion percentage from 16.7 percent prior to playing Lindenwood on Dec. 6 to 18.6 percent following the two man-up goal performance at RIT.
• Jessica Sibley leads the team with four power play goals and Nicole Renault and Melissa Piacentini is close behind her with three man-advantage scores.
• Renault and Caitlin Roach are tied for first in CHA with 10 power play points on the year and Sibley is right behind them in fourth place with nine man-up tallies.

GET BY WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM DEFENSE
• Caitlin Roach and Nicole Renault lead the team in points with 15 on the season, 12 of which are assists.
• They are tied for eighth in CHA in assist scoring, averaging 0.57 per game. This also ranks 39th nationally.
• Roach and Renault are tied for 13th in points per game among Division I defensemen and first in College Hockey America. Overall, their 0.71 points per game is the 10th-best mark among CHA players.
• Both Roach and Renault are big helpers on the power play, racking up 10 points while on the man-advantage, which ranks first in the conference. They each scored three goals on the season, all on the power play.
