SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's hockey team (0-3-1) will return to Tennity Ice Pavilion on Friday, Oct. 21 for the first game of a home-and-home series with No. 5 Colgate (4-0-0). The second game will follow on Saturday and take place at the Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton, N.Y.
Â
Friday's game is set to begin at 7 p.m., while Saturday's puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Â
The Orange will play in Tennity for the first time since Oct. 1, after an off-weekend and an away series with Northeastern. Syracuse tied with the Huskies on the first night in Boston, 2-2. Goals from Savannah Rennie and Alysha Burriss helped 'Cuse draw even with Northeastern and goalie Abbey Miller registered a career-high 23 saves in the game. The second game saw an early Northeastern goal, but then stellar play between the pipes for both teams kept the score at 1-0. Â
Â
Rennie, Burriss and Jessica Sibley have each scored for the Orange this season and Sibley and Rennie lead the team with two points this season. Miller has started three of four games for Syracuse, notching a .925 save percentage.
Â
Colgate moved up to No. 5 in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll, the highest ranking in program history. The Raiders are the only team in Division I who have won all of their games this season with a perfect 4-0 record. The team has scored at least three goals in every game this season, outscoring their opponents 17-6. Â
Â
Cat Quirion, Annika Zalewski, Jessie Eldridge and Bailey Larson have all netted two goals and four assists this season for the Raiders. Goaltender Julia Vandyk leads the country in save percentage (.963) and is third in goals against average (1.01).
Â
The two teams have met 14 times and Colgate owns a 7-5-2 record in the all-time series. The Orange and the Raiders met twice last season, once on Nov. 20, 2015 and on Jan. 4, 2016. Syracuse dropped the first matchup at Colgate, but the clubs tied at Tennity.
