BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's hockey team will play in the College Hockey America championship game today versus top-seeded Robert Morris at 4 p.m. The game will be played at the HARBORCENTER.
Â
The winning team will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Â
Syracuse is familiar with playing in the final game, having made the championship five previous times, including three straight appearances in 2015, 2016 and now 2017. The Orange have never broken through to win the title, however.
Â
Robert Morris has played in the CHA championship game once in program history, winning the title in 2011-12.
Â
The Orange and the Colonials met four times in the regular season. Robert Morris claims a 2-1-1 record against 'Cuse during the 2016-17 campaign, but Syracuse owns a 15-12-9 record overall against the Colonials.
Â
Syracuse advanced to the championship with a 4-0 win against fifth-seeded RIT last night. Heather Schwarz, Kelli Rowswell, Megan Quinn and Allie Munroe all scored in the victory and Abbey Miller secured her ninth shutout of the season, setting a new Orange career record in one season.
Â
Robert Morris edged sixth-seeded Lindenwood, 2-1, yesterday afternoon to earn a trip to the finals. The game was tied until the third period, when a Colonial broke through with seven minutes left in the game.
