Orange Earn #2 Seed in ACC Tournament After Winning Streak Snapped at Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 7/8 Syracuse ended the regular season with a 9-8 setback at Louisville on Saturday, April 22. The loss snaps the Orange's five-game winning streak as they enter postseason play with a 13-5 record.

Syracuse is the No. 2 seed in next week's ACC Tournament in Richmond, Va. after posting a 5-2 mark in conference play. The Orange will take on No. 7 seed Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals on Thursday, April 27 at 5 p.m. The winner between Syracuse and the Hokies will face either Virginia or Louisville in the semifinals on Friday, April 28 at 8 p.m. The championship game is schedule for Sunday, April 30 at 1 p.m.

HOW IT WAS DECIDED
The Cardinals (10-6, 2-4) led 5-3 at halftime and scored the first two goals of the second half to take their largest lead of the game at 7-3. Junior Riley Donahue sparked Syracuse's comeback attempt with her 33rd goal of the season and then assisted on senior Devon Parker's goal at the 16:02 mark. Sophomore Natalie Wallon capped Syracuse's scoring run when she found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Nicole Levy to cut the deficit to one, 7-6.

Louisville responded with two straight goals, extending its lead back to three, but Wallon scored back-to-back goals to again bring the Orange within one, 9-8, with 1:31 remaining. The Cardinals won the ensuing draw, but turned it over, giving Syracuse possession with 11 seconds on the clock. The Orange couldn't take advantage as they turned it over on a long pass down field, allowing Louisville to run out the clock.

Wallon tied her career high with three goals, marking the third hat trick of her career. Donahue finished with two goals and an assist, and junior Alie Jimerson had a goal and an assist.
