
No. 12 Orange Host Pacific for Military Appreciation Day

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University's 12th-ranked field hockey team (4-3, 0-2 ACC) will face off against Pacific (5-3) at 5:30 p.m. for Military Appreciation Day on Friday at J.S. Coyne Stadium.
Syracuse snapped a three-game losing streak with a dominant 3-0 win over Bucknell last Sunday. The shutout victory marked the second time this season the Orange have held an opponent scoreless. Syracuse edged the Bison 6-4 in penalty corners and recorded 12 shots, seven on goal, while holding Bucknell to nine total shots.
Peyton Kemp tallied her first career goal in the 3-0 win and Chiara Gutsche scored her team-best fourth goal of the season.
Pacific is coming off a two-game win streak, including a double overtime win at Michigan State. The Tigers are 3-1 in their last four games with the only loss by way of Michigan, 1-0, in overtime. The team has averaged 12.3 shots per game and Senior Kriekie van Wyk leads the Tigers with seven goals this season. Pacific will first play at Colgate on Thursday afternoon.
This weekend, the 2008 team is back on campus to celebrate the 10th anniversary of making the NCAA Final Four for the first time in Syracuse Field Hockey history. The 2008 squad will be recognized at multiple events throughout the weekend, including at the Syracuse vs. UConn football game on Saturday and at halftime of Sunday's field hockey clash with Penn at 1 p.m.
