
Hawryschuk Named Tewaaraton Award Nominee

WASHINGTON D.C. – Syracuse junior Emily Hawryschuk is one 25 nominees for the 2019 Tewaaraton Award. The list of nominees was released by the Tewaaraton Award Foundation on Thursday, April 25. The Tewaaraton Award is presented annually to the top collegiate male and female lacrosse player across Division I, II and III.

Hawryschuk leads the Orange in points (78), goals (61) and draw controls (45). In the latest NCAA statistics, she ranks 18th in the nation in points and 12th in goals. Hawryschuk has scored three or more goals in 15 of 18 games and four or more goals in 12 of 18 contests this season.

The Victor, N.Y. native scored four goals against Virginia in the first round of the ACC Tournament on Wednesday, giving her 61 goals this season, which rank 10th on Syracuse's single-season record list. In addition, her 152 career goals rank seventh on the Orange's all-time leader list.

Hawryschuk was named to the All-ACC First Team earlier this week, marking the second straight year she has earned the honor. In addition, she earned a spot on Inside Lacrosse's Midseason All-America team.

Five women's and five men's finalists will be announced on May 9 and invited to the Tewaaraton Award Ceremony in Washington D.C. on May 30.

Hawryschuk and the No. 4 Orange take on unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Boston College in the ACC Tournament semifinals on Friday, April 26 at 5 p.m. Fans can watch the game on RSN, the Fox Sports Go app and ACC Network Extra.
