CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 3 Syracuse will play for an ACC Championship when it faces top-ranked and undefeated North Carolina on Sunday, May 2. Opening draw in Chapel Hill is set for 12 p.m.

ORANGE IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
Syracuse is making its fifth appearance in the ACC Tournament final and first since 2017. The Orange played in the championship game in each of their first four seasons in the league (2014-17) and claimed the 2015 title. Syracuse and North Carolina have faced each other three times in the tournament final. The Orange are 1-2 in those games, winning the 2015 crown in overtime.

The victory against Boston College in the semifinals improved Syracuse's overall ACC Tournament record to 12-5.

SCOUTING THE TAR HEELS
North Carolina advanced to the ACC final with an 18-4 victory against Notre Dame in the semifinals. The win improved the Tar Heels' record to 17-0, including a perfect 9-0 mark in league play during the regular season.

Jamie Ortega and Katie Hoeg lead the North Carolina offense. Both have 91 points. Ortega has scored a team-best 70 goals, while Hoeg has dished out a team-high 60 assists. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Taylor Moreno leads the nation with a 6.08 goals-against average.

Sunday's game marks the 16th all-time meeting between Syracuse and North Carolina. The Tar Heels hold an 8-7 advantage in the series. The squads met on April 3 in Chapel Hill. The Orange started strong, taking a 4-1 lead in the first 10 minutes, but the Tar Heels answered with 10 straight goals on their way to a 17-6 victory. Junior Meaghan Tyrrell led Syracuse with four goals.
