The Orange home opener is Thursday October 6th at Tennity Ice Pavilion against St. Lawrence. The contest marks the first home game for Syracuse head coach Britni Smith, who will coach against her alma mater. The 2010 St. Lawrence graduate took the reins of the Syracuse (1-2 overall) program in May. The weekend series will wrap up at St. Lawrence (1-3) at 3 pm on Saturday, October 8th at Appleton Arena. The first game will be streamed on CUSE.COM and the second will be on ESPN+.

     • Syracuse senior Brynn Koocher and St. Lawrence's Katina Duscio both played for Kitchener Waterloo Jr. Rangers.Â
     • Orange skaters Heidi Knoll, Terryn Mozes and Sarah Thompson and the Saints' Hillary Sterling skated for the Nepean Junior Wildcats.

The Syracuse-SLU Coaching Connections
- Syracuse head coach Britni Smith played at St. Lawrence for former Orange head coach Paul Flanagan from 2006-2008. Flanagan left SLU to start the Orange program in 2008-09 and retired after the 2021-22 season.
- SLU head coach Chris Wells took over the St. Lawrence program in 2008 after Flanagan left to start the ice hockey program at Syracuse.
- Wells coached Smith at St. Lawrence from 2008-2010
- Twelve years later Britni Smith is the head coach at Syracuse after Flanagan retired in 2022.Â
- Britni Smith and Paul Flanagan -- the only two head coaches in Syracuse ice hockey history -- are both St. Lawrence University graduates.

Notes from the Merrimack Series
- Lauren Bellefontaine climbed a spot to 11th on the Syracuse career scoring record list after recording two points in the first game at Merrimack. She had an assist on the second goal and scored the game-winner in overtime.
- Sophomore Sarah Marchand recorded her first assist of the season at Merrimack. The Belle River, Ontario native tied for the team-high with 15 assists last season.
- Orange defensemen are blocking shots. Junior defensemen Hannah Johnson and Kambel Beacom each recorded three blocks in a game at Merrimack. Johnson had three in the win and Beacom had three on Saturday.
- Junior forward Tatum White leads the Orange with 34 faceoff wins. At Merrimack, she won 13-of 21 in the first game and 16-of-20 in the second game.
- Graduate student goaltender Arielle DeSmet is approaching a career saves milestone. She has 1,486 in 61 games, an average of 24.4 per game. When she reaches 1,500 saves she will become the fifth Syracuse goalie to achieve that milestone. In the series at Merrimack, DeSmet recorded 30 saves.
