The Orange play at #9Â Cornell on Tuesday, Oct. 17 (7 pm) at Lynah Rink in Ithaca, N.Y. Syracuse (3-3 overall) split its series with RPI this past weekend, winning 3-2 at Tennity Ice Pavilion on Oct. 14. The Big Red (2-0) swept Penn State on their opening weekend, beating the Nittany Lions 4-1 and 5-2.

Syracuse won the first meeting against Cornell in 2010. In the 15-game series, Cornell holds a 14-1 advantage. Last season Cornell beat the Orange, 4-1, at Tennity.

What to Know About the Orange:
- Syracuse is tied for 15th nationally and leads the CHA in penalty kill percentage (.889). The Orange have successfully killed 16-of-18 opponent power play opportunities, and have not allowed a goal on a power play in the past four games, and five of six this season.
- Orange graduate student Rachel Teslak is the College Hockey America Defenseman of the Week for her performance in Syracuse's series against Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Teslak scored a goal, took six shots and had two blocks in the series. In Syracuse's 3-2 win, Teslak tied the game, 1-1 in the first period, on a goal from Jocelyn Fiala. Teslak took the centering pass from Fiala in the slot and fired a shot into the top left corner of the net for the goal. This season, Teslak has one goal and one assist, 13 shots on goal and eight blocks in six games. A native of Cranbrook, British Columbia, Teslak joined the Orange prior to the 2023-24 season after four years at St. Lawrence.
- Forwards Kate Holmes and Darci Johal lead the Orange in assists. Holmes leads the team and is tied for third in the CHA with four and Johal has three, which ties for 10th in the league. They each have one goal, as well.
- Holmes recorded two in Syracuse's 3-2 victory at Post (9/30), one on Sarah Thompson's power play goal against Merrimack (10/6) and had one against RPI (10/14). Holmes' five points ranks eighth in the CHA this season.
- Johal tallied one assist at Post and contributed to Syracuse's power play goal against Merrimack (10/6) with Thompson and Holmes. Against RPI (10/14), Johal tallied one assist. Johal is averaging 3.67 shots per game, which ranks sixth in the CHA this season. She fired a season-high seven shots against Merrimakc (10/10).
- Freshman Nea Tervonen ranks 19th nationally and sixth in College Hockey America with 60 faceoff wins in her first six games. The Tampere, Finland native is the only first-year skater on the CHA's top 10 list and is one of three in the top 20 nationally. The top five in the CHA have played eight games. Tervonen won 15 faceoffs in her Syracuse debut becoming the first Orange skater to tally 15 wins in the circle in their first career game. The 15 faceoff wins in a season-opener ties for fourth on the list of faceoff wins in the first game of a season.
- Sophomore Heidi Knoll is Syracuse's top goal-scorer with three, which ties for fourth in the CHA this season. She tallied a career-high two goals, including the game-winner, at Post in the season-opener. Knoll also has five blocks, including three against RPI (10/14). Last season Knoll had two points, on one goal and one assist, and two blocks in 33 games.
