Syracuse lost at #9 Cornell, 7-0, on Tuesday night at Lynah Rink in Ithaca. In the first period the Orange (3-4 overall) allowed one goal and goaltender Allie Kelley had 13 saves for a 1-0 score after 20 minutes. In the second, the Big Red (3-0) broke the game open with four goals and then Syracuse allowed just two in the third. Kelley finished with 34 saves.

"There were many things tonight that we look to in terms of our process," said head coach Britni Smith. "The third period was our best period tonight. That was big for us. It was something we talked about between the second and third – that was our opportunity to decide what type of a team we want to be. It is about our process, getting better each period, and I thought we did that tonight. We have to continue to build our game."

The Orange defense recorded 14 blocked shots, including three by defenseman Alexandria Weiss, who leads the team with 11 this season.

The Orange will play a two-game series at Boston University on Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21.
