
Orange Take Top Spots at John Reif Memorial

Syracuse student-athletes claimed the top-six spots in the women's race and swept the top-four spots in the men's race at the John Reif Memorial to close the regular season.
Justus Holden-Betts was the top finisher from the women's race, crossing the line in 17:43.2 to win the individual crown. She was racing unattached. Caroline Kirby was the top finisher for SU competing for the Orange on Friday, traversing the 5k course in 17:28.9, which was good for second overall.
Bethany Steiner (18:07.3), Barbora Svobodova (18:33.9 – unattached), Olivia Shattuck (19:07.9) and Tess Fitzmaurice (19:19.8) took spots three through six in the race, just ahead of a pair of Cornell runners. Â
The entirety of the women's roster finished in the top-12. Taylor Mascetta took ninth in 19:40.4, followed in succession by Madeline Lutz (19:59.4), Lucy Zombek (20:17.5) and Lizzie Bigelow (20:32.3).
Noah Carey (14:44.8), Connor Ackley (14:47.3) and Benne Anderson (14:50.4) were the top-three finishers, all racing unattached. Gabriel Planty was fourth in 15:06.7 to lead the men in an Orange jersey.
Alex Herbst (15:30.1) finished eighth, followed by Noah Beveridge (15:31.9) and Patrick Malone (15:32.8) in ninth and 10th, respectively. Eamon Burke (15:50.7), Joey Hendershot (16:13.6) and Kamari Miller (16:42.3) rounded out the SU competitors.
The Orange will next head to the ACC Championships next Friday in Tallahassee, Florida.
