Orange Lose Series Finale at BU
10/21/2023 6:10:00 PM | Ice Hockey
Syracuse lost at Boston University, 6-1, on Saturday in Walter Brown Arena in Boston, Mass. Orange defenseman Kailey Langefels scored her first Syracuse goal unassisted to tie the game, 1-1, with 11:34 remaining in the second period. The Orange (3-5-1 overall) will open College Hockey America play next weekend, hosting 15th-ranked Penn State in a two-game series on Saturday, October 28 (1 pm) and Sunday, October 29 (1 pm) at Tennity Ice Pavilion.
Â
"We could not get things going tonight," said head coach Britni Smith. "I thought we chased the game early on and that was the way it went tonight. We have to get back to our game. Yesterday I thought we did a really good job with our identity and today I thought we got away from it. So, it's noticing the difference and learning from that and making sure that we bring our game for Penn State next week."
Â
Boston University (1-2-1) led after the first, 1-0. After Langefels goal, the Terriers added two more to take a 3-1 lead after two periods and then added three in the third for the final score.
Â
Orange goaltender Allie Kelley posted 37 saves, her fourth consecutive game with more than 30 saves. She is averaging 30.7 saves per game through nine contests this season. The Syracuse defense blocked 21 shots, including three by forward Darci Johal.
