#1 'Cuse Extends Winning Streak

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Meaghan Tyrrell recorded eight points and Delaney Sweitzer made 13 saves to lead the No. 1 Syracuse to a 19-13 victory against Cornell in the JMA Wireless Dome. The victory improves the Orange's record to 12-0 this season.

Tyrrell scored a team-best five goals to go along with three assists, all of which resulted in goals by her sister, Emma Tyrrell. Emma Tyrrell finished with four goals, while Emma Ward dished out four assists to go along with one goal.

Sweitzer reached double figures in saves for the fourth time this season in 45 minutes of action. She also picked up four ground balls and caused a turnover.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange jumped out to a 4-0 lead and led 7-2 after the first quarter. Syracuse held a 10-4 advantage before Josie Vogel found the back of the net with seven seconds on the clock to cut the lead to 10-5 at halftime.

The Big Red (6-4) opened the scoring in the third quarter to get withing four, but Meaghan Tyrrell scored an unassisted goal at the 11:42 mark to spark the Orange on a 7-0 scoring the remainder of the quarter that gave them their largest lead at 17-6. Meaghan Tyrrell scored four times during the run, while Ward had three assists.

Cornell attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter, but back-to-back goals by Gracie Britton and Shira Parower gave Syracuse the 19-13 victory in its final non-conference game of the regular season.

Meaghan Tyrrell moved into fourth place on Syracuse's all-time goals scored list with her performance against the Big Red. She now has 233 career goals, moving her past Katie Rowan, who scored 232 goals from 2006-09.
