
Tyrrell Named ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year

Twelve Orange Named to All-ACC Academic Team
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse graduate student Meaghan Tyrrell is the 2023 ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year. She highlights a group of 12 members of the Orange named to the All-ACC Academic Team, which was announced by the league office on Thursday.

Tyrrell adds the honor to a long list of accolades this season. She was a finalist for the Tewaaraton Award for the second straight season and was named a first-team All-American by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), inside Lacrosse Magazine and USA Lacrosse Magazine. In addition, Tyrrell earned the ACC Attacker of the Year award and was an All-ACC First Team and ACC All-Tournament Team selection.

The Mt. Sinai, New York native ranked fourth in the nation in points (107) and points per game (5.10) this season. Tyrrell is the ninth Division I and first Syracuse player to record 400 career points. She finished her career ranked sixth on the NCAA DI all-time points list with 415.

Tyrrell has been also honored for her work in the classroom. She earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team and was an honorary recipient of an ACC Post-Graduate Scholarship. Tyrrell becomes the third Syracuse player to earn ACC Women's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year honors, joining Alyssa Murray (2014) and head coach Kayla Treanor (2016).

The All-ACC Academic team featured 12 members of the Orange. Meaghan Tyrrell was joined by fellow grad students Megan Carney and Tessa Queri, seniors Delaney Sweitzer, Savannah Sweitzer and Emma Tyrrell, juniors Katie Goodale, Natalie Smith and Emma Ward, sophomores Olivia Adamson and McKenzie Olsen and freshman Coco Vandiver.

Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
