#5 Orange Extend Winning Streak on Senior Day

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 5 Syracuse used an 8-0 second-half scoring run to pull away for a 22-12 victory against Louisville in women's lacrosse action in the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday. With the win, the Orange extend their winning streak to six games and stay unbeaten in ACC play with a 6-0 record.

Emma Tyrrell led 'Cuse to a season-high 22 goals with five on the day. Olivia Adamson added four goals to go along with two assists as eight different players scored at least one goal in the victory.

Kate Mashewske became Syracuse's all-time leader in draw controls with 16 against the Cardinals. She now has 440, one more than Kailah Kempney's previous record of 439 set from 2012-15. Mashewske ranks third among active Division I players in career draw controls.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Neither team could pull away in a first half that featured four ties. With the Orange leading by one, 8-7, Emma Ward found the back of the net with 1:47 remaining in the second quarter to give Syracuse (9-3) a two-goal advantage at halftime.

The 'Cuse scoring run continued after the break. Payton Rowley, Tyrrell and Adamson all found the back of the net to push the lead to 12-7. Louisville's Nicole Perroni briefly halted the Orange scoring outburst with her 33rd goal of the year, but Syracuse scored eight-straight goals to put the game out of reach.

Tyrrell scored three times during the run that gave the Orange their largest lead of the day at 20-8. The Cardinals (6-7, 2-4) recorded four of the next five goals before Gracie Britton scored on a free-position attempt for the 22-12 final.

Goalkeeper Delaney Sweitzer recorded eight saves in the victory. Bianca Chevarie (4 GB, 1 CT) and Katie Goodale (2 CT, 1 GB, 4 DC) helped anchor the 'Cuse defense.

Savannah Sweitzer recorded her second-straight hat trick in the win. Her 11 goals and 15 points this season are just one shy of her career highs in both categories.

The Orange honored their senior class in a pregame ceremony. Goodale, Ward, Maddy Baxter, Lauren Call, Evan Johnston, Jenny Markey, Tate Paulson and Natalie Smith played in their final regular-season game in the JMA Dome.
