Orange Advance to ACC Title Game

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina – Syracuse women's lacrosse will play for its second ACC Tournament title after defeating Virginia, 19-4 in the semifinals on Friday in Charlotte. The Orange will face defending tournament champion Boston College in Sunday's final at noon on ACC Network.

Four different players had a hat trick in the win, including Olivia Adamson, who recorded a team-best four goals. Emma Tyrrell recorded five points (3g, 2a), while Emma Ward had four points (3g, 1a). Overall, nine different players scored at least one goal for the Orange.

On the defensive end, Katie Goodale and Kaci Benoit had two caused turnovers and two ground balls apiece. The Orange have now held their opponents to less than 10 goals in five of their last six games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Top-seed Syracuse (14-4) dominated the first quarter as it led 8-0 after the first 15 minutes of action. Adamson started the game with back-to-back goals, while Natalie Smith scored twice during the first quarter. Mogan Schwab tallied Virginia's (14-4) first and only goal of the first half to start the second quarter before the Orange scored five unanswered goals to take a 13-1 halftime lead. Tyrrell had two goals in the second quarter as Syracuse equaled its season high for goals in the first half.

The 'Cuse offense continued to click after intermission. Syracuse led, 16-3, after three quarters and Gracie Britton's goal with 33 seconds on the clock gave the Orange their largest lead of the day and the 19-4 victory.

Syracuse improved its ACC Tournament record to 15-8 overall and 6-2 in the semifinals.

The Orange, which are ranked No. 4 in this week's ILWomen/IWLCA rankings, recorded their fifth win against a top-10 opponent, defeating the No. 6 Cavaliers for the second time this season. Syracuse's eight games against teams ranked in the top 10 are the most in the nation.
