#3 Orange Defeat Pitt in Regular-Season Home Finale

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 3 Syracuse extended its winning streak and remained unbeaten in ACC play with a 16-7 win against Pittsburgh on Saturday at CNS Stadium. The Orange, which have now won eight-straight games, improve their record to 11-3, including a 7-0 mark against ACC opponents.

Emma Tyrrell again led the 'Cuse offense with six goals, while Payton Rowley and Natalie Smith had three goals each. The Syracuse defense allowed just two goals through three quarters as it held its opponent to less than 10 goals for the seventh time this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Orange led, 2-1, when Rowley converted on a free-position attempt at the 6:43 mark of the first quarter. That goal was the first of 10 unanswered for Syracuse as it took a 12-1 advantage to the locker room at halftime. Tyrrell had four goals during the run, while Rowley and Natalie Smith had two goals apiece.

Pittsburgh (4-10, 0-7) netted the first goal of the second half, but Tyrrell scored twice, and Meghan Rode found the back of the net as Syracuse took its largest of the day at 15-2 and went on to victory in its final home game of the regular season.

Tyrrell continued her outstanding play, tying her season high with six goals. In her last four contests, she is averaging 5.5 goals per game.

Kate Mashewske posted 15 draw controls, helping the Orange to a 19-8 advantage in the draw circle. Syracuse also outshot Pittsburgh, 34-18.
