
Orange Faces Upstate Rival Colgate

The Syracuse ice hockey team will travel to face upstate New York rival Colgate on Tuesday, November 23 for a 7 p.m. game. The Orange is coming off its second two-game sweep of the season at Robert Morris, where it also registered its first shutout of the year. SU looks to improve on its 6-5-1 (.542) record, which is the first time in school history that it has exceeded .500.
Last Time Out
Syracuse swept its series at RMU with scores 4-0 and 4-2. Freshman forward standout Isabel Menard was awarded her third CHA Rookie of the Week award for her performance against the Colonials, where she tallied one assist and scored three goals, including one short-handed. Senior netminder Lucy Schoedel earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week award after recording 32 saves in her first shutout of the season, and had 28 shots on Saturday. She registered a .968 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average over the weekend.
Syracuse-Colgate Series
Colgate was the first opponent the Orange faced in program history. SU lost its only meeting with the Raiders, 4-3. Sophomore Megan Skelly scored the first goal just nine seconds into the contest, while sophomore Janelle Malcolm added the other Sracuse marker. Schoedel turned away 34-of-38 shots to anchor the Orange defense.
Scouting the Raiders
Colgate is 2-9-3 (1-4-3 ECAC) after losing, 3-2, to Princeton on November 21. Sophomore defenseman Amanda Kirwan and senior forward Katie Stewart scored the two goals for the Raiders, while junior goaltender Lisa Plenderleith made 25 saves. The Raiders are led by Stewart, who has a team-high 11 points (6 goals, 5 assists). Plenderleith (2.91 GAA, .897 Sv%) shares time in net with sophomore Kimberly Sass (3.76 GAA, .876 Sv%) and freshman Jocelyn Yokow.
