
SU Hosts Terriers in NCAA First Round

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- No. 8 Syracuse opens the 2009 NCAA Tournament on Sunday when it hosts No. 11 Boston University in the Carrier Dome. Opening draw is has been changed to 4 p.m. The Orange is the seventh seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with a 13-4 record. Boston University, the America East Conference champions, enters Sunday's game with a record of 15-3.
Syracuse is making its eighth appearance in the NCAA Tournament and is hosting a first-round game for the second straight year. In 2008, the Orange defeated Towson and North Carolina on its home field to advance to the national semifinals for the first time in school history. Overall, Syracuse has an all-time record of 3-7 in the NCAA Tournament.
Tickets for Sunday's game are $5 for adults and $3 for students from both Universities (with a valid ID) and youth ages 12 and under. Parking is free in the Dome West lots.

SYRACUSE-BOSTON UNIVERSITY SERIES
The meeting between Syracuse and Boston University is the eighth time the two schools have faced each other. The Orange holds the advantage in the series, 6-1. The series has been tightly contested as five of the seven games have been decided by one goal. The two squads met earlier this season in the Carrier Dome. Junior Christina Dove led SU with four goals as the Orange posted a 17-8 victory.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS
Boston University enters today's game on a 13-game winning streak. The Terriers are led by Sarah Dalton, who has recorded 97 points on 86 goals and 11 assists this season. She is one of three players who have more than 40 goals. McKinley Curro is BU's second-leading scorer with 70 points on 40 goals and 30 assists, while Traci Landy has 58 points on 52 goals and six assists. Rachel Klein has played every minute in goal for the Terriers. She has a 9.54 goals-against average and a .461 save percentage.
ABOUT TODAY'S GAME
Syracuse has a 6-1 record in games played in the Carrier Dome this season. During the last three years, Syracuse has a record of 24-4 in the Loud House ... Senior Katie Rowan has recorded 27 career points in NCAA Tournament play, which is the highest total for any SU player in program history.
