MANCHESTER, N.H. – Freshman forward Isabel Menard tallied a career-high five points to become the leading point scorer on the team as the No. 10 Syracuse University ice hockey team defeated St. Anselm, 7-2, on Friday evening. Menard was one of six players to score in Syracuse's second consecutive road win to improve its record to 13-8-1.
Menard extended her point streak to seven, which is the longest in program history. Her 17 assists is first on the team, while her 10 goals ties for second. Fellow freshman Holly Carrie-Mattimoe scored a goal for the third consecutive game for the Orange, in addition to two helpers.
The Syracuse penalty killing unit remained perfect on all four penalties, while St. Anselm also held SU scoreless on all six of its power-play opportunities.

Freshman Jessica Sorensen found junior forward Julie Rising for her team-high tying 11th goal to add to SU's lead at the 3:51 mark. Menard increased the Orange separation, 3-0, with her first goal of the night to shut out the Eagles heading into the second period.
Syracuse didn't hold back and came out strong with its fourth goal from sophomore Kylie Klassen less than four minutes into the second period. Carrie-Mattimoe and Menard were credited with the assists.
It wasn't until the clock read 1:10 in the third period that St. Anselm got on the board with back-to-back goals from Aly Zappen and Kristen Byrne. However, the Orange regained control at the 7:50 mark when Menard netted her second goal. SU continued to score two more from Sorensen and sophomore Lisa Mullan to hold the dominating 7-2 victory.
Senior Lucy Schoedel and sophomore Stephanie Jones shared time in the net for Syracuse. Schoedel made eight saves, while Jones had seven in her first game this season. The Eagles' Amy Zappen turned aside 31-of-38 shots.
