SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Seventh-ranked Syracuse returns to BIG EAST play this weekend when it goes back on the road for two contests. The Orange plays at Connecticut on Friday at 4 p.m. and at Notre Dame on Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Orange enters Friday's game with an overall record of 6-3 and a 1-0 mark in conference play. Syracuse defeated Rutgers, 17-10, in its BIG EAST opener on March 28. Syracuse has won its last four regular-season conference games, dating back to last season. Connecticut is 7-4 overall and 0-2 in the BIG EAST.
THE SERIES
This weekend's game marks the 13th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Connecticut in women's lacrosse. The Orange has never lost to the Huskies, winning all previous 12 contests.
TUMOLO EARNS BIG EAST HONOR
Freshman Michelle Tumolo was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on April 5 for her for her performance against Boston University. It is Tumolo's first conference recognition of her career. Against the Terriers, Tumolo registered five points on three goals and two assists. She netted back-to-back goals to tie the score after BU took an early 2-0 lead. She added two assists during the Orange's 7-1 scoring run that gave Syracuse a 10-6 halftime lead. After the Terriers cut the lead to two with 21:03 remaining, Tumolo netted the second of two consecutive Orange goals as it built its lead back to four and it went on to post the 17-11 victory.
DOVE CLIMBING THE CHARTS
Senior Christina Dove is no stranger to record lists. She entered her final campaign at Syracuse ranked second in program history in both points and goals scored. As she chases Katie Rowan's school records in both categories, Dove is also placing her name among the NCAA Division I all-time leaders.
Dove is the active Divison I scoring leader with 288 points, which tie her for 29th on the all-time scoring list. She could quickly move up on the list as she needs just five more goals to tie for the 24th spot. Dove is also the active leader in goals scored with 219. That total ties her 24th on the career leader list.
HOLDEN'S ROLE EXPANDING
Sophomore Sarah Holden has seen increased playing time in the last three games. She made her first career start against No. 18 Boston University. Holden recorded a career-high five draw controls, helping the Orange win 17-of-30 draws in the game.
