
Alexander Earns Record Third BIG EAST Player of the Week Accolades

PROVIDENCE – Sophomore center Kayla Alexander was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week, the league announced today. Alexander becomes the first Syracuse player to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week honors three times in a season and only the second SU player to have three in her career. The sophomore averaged 19.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg and 3.0 bpg in a 2-0 week for Syracuse.
In a come-from-behind win at # RV/22 St. John's, Alexander led all scorers with 26 points, going 10-of-16 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the free throw line. She added eight rebounds.
In a win against -/RV Louisville, Alexander recorded 12 points, six rebounds and four blocks.
She has led SU in scoring and rebounding a team-best 12 times. It was her team-high eighth 20-plus point game of the year.
The sophomore leads the team in points (14.5), rebounds (7.5), blocks (2.8), field-goal percentage (.579) and free-throw percentage (.774).
Alexander leads the BIG EAST in blocks and ranks fourth field-goal percentage, fifth in offensive rebounds (3.4), sixth in rebounding, eighth in free-throw percentage and 10th in scoring.
She is also 14th in the nation in blocks.
Alexander and the rest of the Orange travel to Cincinnati for a critical matchup with the Bearcats tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
