Alexander Named To BIG EAST Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Syracuse women's basketball's Kayla Alexander was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday for her contributions in leading the Orange (6-0) to a 3-0 week. The senior center averaged 17.3 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.3 blocks while shooting 56 percent in wins at Saint Joseph's (80-39) and in the San Juan Shootout vs. Georgia Tech (75-72, OT) and Virginia (74-73).
It is Alexander's second straight BIG EAST honor as she was named the first conference player of the week of the season last Monday.
Against the Hawks, Alexander recorded a near-triple-double with 20 points, seven rebounds and eight blocks. She ran her career points total to 1,536, passing Felisha Legette (1,526) for fourth all-time at Syracuse.

Against the Yellow Jackets, Alexander went 6-of-6 at the free throw line, giving her 428 made free throws in her career, passing Nicole Michael's (2007-10) 425 for most in program history. The senior center also blocked four shots, running increasing her SU career record to 280.

Against the Cavaliers, she scored 13 of her team-high 18 points in the second half to fuel the Orange comeback. The senior center also led the Orange with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Alexander and the Orange play the sixth of seven in a row on the road Thursday at Dartmouth in a 7 p.m. tip-off. After a Sunday, Dec. 2 game at Temple, Syracuse will return home for five straight games at the Carrier Dome through the duration of December.
