SU Leads Cougars, 27-22, at Half

The Syracuse women's basketball team leads Washington State, 27-22, at halftime at the Carrier Dome. Elashier Hall spearheaded the Orange offensive effort in the first half, scoring seven points on 3-for-6 shooting. Kayla Alexander has a team-high six rebounds while Cornelia Fondren has dished out four assists.
SU opened up the game with two baskets by Alexander and Hall. The two nonconference opponents fought back and forth in the first half, with SU's lead not extending its lead further than one point.
A three-pointer by Lia Galdeira with 12 minutes left in the first half, gave Washington State its first and only lead of the game, 12-10.
The Cougars didn't hold the lead for long after Carmen Tyson-Thomas hit a three-pointer, putting SU up 13-12. Tyson-Thomas' three-pointer was the beginning of a 14-0 scoring run by the Orange. SU's run included five points by Hall, who scored a three-point basket and a layup.
The Orange defense stood strong, holding the Cougers to zero points for 6:13 until Carly Noyes scored a layup at 5:58, cutting SU's lead to 10 points, 24-16.
