SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse field hockey head coach Ange Bradley has been announcing the program's 2014 signing class one-by-one over the last several weeks. Today she completes the class with the final recruit.
"I am very excited to welcome the Class of 2018 to our Syracuse Field Hockey Family," Bradley said. "This class has decided to join a university which offers excellence both in the classroom and on the field. This is a powerful recruiting class that will offer speed to our line-up, skill and a high level of hockey knowledge. This class represents five states and two countries; they are diverse and ready to help us pursue an ACC and NCAA championship. I cannot wait to help them develop and leave a legacy for future Syracuse Field Hockey student-athletes. There are many firsts that this class can achieve as a unit. On behalf of the Syracuse Athletic Department and our extended community please welcome the class of 2018 to our Syracuse family."

In today's edition, Bradley announces the addition of midfielder/back Jill Giesen, from Essen, Germany.
"Jill is a very smart player, a great athlete, determined and has very quick hands," Bradley said."Her technical skills and level of experience are very good. Jill's speed and ability to possess the ball with great insight of the game will make her a strong contender for a starting position this fall. Jill will offer depth to both our midfield and backfield. I look forward to working with her."
Giesen comes to Syracuse with extensive experience playing in the high-level club system in Germany. Playing for Bonner THV, she finished second in the National League last season. Playing for ETVF, Giesen finished first in the National League and placed fourth in the German Championship in 2011. She also has played for HC Essen 99, winning West German Championships in 2007 and 2009, finishing third in the German Championship in 2007 and fourth in 2009.
"I chose Syracuse because I was fascinated by the big success in all sports," Giesen said. "I think Syracuse combines high-quality academics with excellent sports, especially field hockey."
From her midfield position, Giesen recorded nine assists during the 2013 club season after posting 13 helpers in 2012.
"Jill is a very fast and intelligent player with great technical skills," Bonner THV coach Jan Henseler said. "The ball nearly adheres to her stick."
Giesen is a 2012 graduate of BMV-Gymnasium.
