SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The No. 25/24 Syracuse University women's basketball team looks to win its third consecutive contest in Atlantic Coast Conference play when it plays Boston College on Sunday afternoon. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hills, Mass.

In the Orange's last game, sophomore guard Alexis Peterson scored a personal-best 32 points to fuel the team to a 73-62 victory against Wake Forest on Jan. 15. It marked the most points scored by a Syracuse player since the 2012-13 season.

In each of the past two games, Syracuse has led wire to wire. Against Virginia on Jan. 11, the Orange by at least nine points for the last 25 minutes of competition. Wake Forest pulled to within two points with three minutes remaining, but Peterson fueled a late run to help the squad to an 11-point win.

Sophomore Sensation
Sophomore guard Alexis Peterson has shown the ability to do it all in her first season as a full-time starter. Peterson currently leads the team in scoring, assists, and steals. She averages 15.2 points, 4.5 assists, and 2.53 steals per contest for the 2014-15 season. Peterson has led the squad in scoring a team-high six times and cracked double-digits in all but two contests, including the past 10 straight games.

Peterson currently leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in steals and ranks 58th in the nation in that category. She holds the third-best assist average in the ACC and 75th-best mark in NCAA Division I women's basketball. Her 15.2 points per game average ranks 11th in the conference, as well. In conference competition, she averages 19.8 points per game, which ranks fourth in the league.

Peterson put together one of the best performances by a Syracuse point guard on Jan. 15 against Wake Forest. She scored a personal-best 32 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field. In 39 minutes of play, she recorded only turnover, as well. Peterson performed in the clutch. Wake Forest pulled within two points with three minutes remaining and the sophomore guard personally went on a 8-1 run to fuel the Orange to an 11-point win.

At the Junkanoo Jam, the Columbus, Ohio native put on a show en route to All-Junkanoo Jam Team accolades. Against East Carolina on Nov. 27, she had 19 points on the day. She came right back with a great showing against No. 1/2 South Carolina on the very next day. In a personal-best 40 minutes, she dished out nine assists and pulled down six rebounds, both of which were career-highs, in a last-minute loss to the Gamecocks.

In her second start of her collegiate career, Peterson had a career-day in the season-opening victory against Fordham on Nov. 16. Peterson led the team with 19 points, then her personal-high, against the Rams. She knocked down eight field goals on the day, as well.

Crash the Glass
The Syracuse women's basketball team has owned the boards during the 2014-15 season. Syracuse currently owns a 741-684 rebounding advantage against its opposition this year, for an average of 3.4 more rebounds than its opponents. The Orange has outrebounded its opposition in more than half of its games thus far in 2014-15.

In addition to its rebounding prowess, the squad has been even more impressive on the offensive glass. Currently, the team leads the ACC in offensive rebounds per game, averaging 18.5 per game. The squad ranks fourth in the country in offensive rebounding, as well.

Sophomore center Briana Day and junior guard Cornelia Fondren have been the club's top-two sources for rebounds this season. Day leads the team with 10.5 boards per game. She ranks second in the ACC and 28th in the nation. Fondren pulls down an average of 5.9 rebounds per contest, which ranks second on the club for the 2014-15 season.

For the 45th time, Syracuse and Boston College will meet on Sunday afternoon in Chestnut Hills, Mass. The two schools met every year from 1990-2004. Boston College leads the all-time series, 23-21, but Syracuse won the latest meeting between the two programs.
