
Syracuse Downed By Bemidji State

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to Bemidji State on Saturday afternoon at Tennity Ice Pavilion in the second game against the Beavers this weekend. Bemidji improves to 2-0 on the season, while the Orange falls to 0-2.
Syracuse and Bemidji exchanged shot for shot in a game that featured 19 penalty calls. Overall, the Beavers held a 30-28 advantage in shots.
Freshman Savannah Rennie had a chance to score in the first period on a penalty shot, but banged the shot off the pipe in her attempt.
Bemidji scored in the second period and twice in the third. Emily Bergland snagged her second goal of the weekend in the second period. Lauren Miller and Alexis Joyce also scored for the Beavers.
Maddi Welch was in net for Syracuse and registered 27 saves, a new career high. Stephanie Grossi and Alysha Burriss led the team with five shots each and Jessica Sibley, Allie Munroe and Rennie each had three.
The Orange are back in action with another weekend doubleheader at Northeastern University on Oct. 14 and 15.
