
Orange to Host Pregame Girls Youth Sports Clinic

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse University Athletics is hosting a one-hour pregame girls youth sports clinic in conjunction with National Girls & Women's in Sports Day on Sunday, Feb. 4, at 11:30 a.m. prior to 'Cuse's 1 p.m. game against Louisville in the Carrier Dome.
Females from ages 6-12 are welcome to participate in drills and interact with Orange student-athletes on the soccer, volleyball and field hockey teams.
During the clinic, the Syracuse cheer squad will teach attendees a routine that will be performed during halftime of the women's basketball game.
Pre-register for the event by completing the registration form and sending it to Janelle Zamierowski (jazamier@syr.edu) and purchase group discounted tickets for the women's basketball game here by using the promo code PLAY4KAY. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 1-888-DOME-TIX, or by visiting the Carrier Dome box office (Gate B) during normal business hours.
Entry to the clinic will be at Gate A of the Carrier Dome.
The 2018 National Girls & Women in Sports Day is scheduled for Feb. 7. The annual event celebrates the importance of fair play, building awareness about Title IX and working together toward its promise of equal opportunity in sports.
Following the clinic the Orange women basketball team will play ACC foe Louisville.
The Orange is currently 11-0 at home this season, just one of eight NCAA Division I teams remaining that are unbeaten at home with 11 or more wins. Tiana Mangakahia leads the nation in assists and assists per game while the team ranks 11th in 3-point field goals per game with 9.5. Both Miranda Drummond and Gabrielle Cooper are ranked 45th and 67th, respectively, in 3-point field goals made this season.
'Cuse is top-50 in various categories including 3-point field goal attempts (4th), 3-point field goals made (9th), assists (35th), assists per game (45th), rebounds (45th), and win-loss percentage (46th).
