
Mangakahia Among Nation’s Best on Wooden Award Late Season Watch List

Syracuse, N.Y. – Tiana Mangakahia is one of 20 women's college basketball players on the Wooden Award Late Season Watch List, announced late Monday night.
The John R. Wooden Award, presented annually to the most outstanding women's college basketball player, will be announced at the College Basketball Awards on April 12. The list of 15 finalists will be revealed ahead of the NCAA Tournament. South Carolina's A'ja Wilson took home the trophy last season.
Mangakahia currently paces the Orange this season with 15.9 points per game and currently ranks sixth all-time at Syracuse in career assists (475). She leads the Atlantic Coast Conference in assists (171) and assists per game (8.1) and is second in the nation in both categories. She has helped the Orange to a 17-4 record and a 6-2 mark in the ACC.
Mangakahia has five double-doubles this season and recorded the first points-rebounds-assists triple double in program history with a 34-point, 10-rebound, 10-assist performance against North Carolina earlier this season.
In her first year with the Orange, Mangakahia was a Nancy Lieberman Point Guard Award finalist and set a program and Atlantic Coast Conference record for assists in a season with 304. She averaged 17.5 points per game and national-best 9.8 assists per game while guiding the Orange to their sixth-straight NCAA Tournament appearance.
Mangakahia is a three-time ACC Player of the Week honoree this season. She has been named USBWA and Citizen Naismith National Player of the Week and additionally is on the national watch lists for the Naismith Trophy and Nancy Lieberman Award.
The Orange rose three spots in the Associated Press Top 25 to No. 15 this week. 'Cuse travels to No. 2 Louisville Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
