The Orange will kick off their 2023-24 season with a two-game series at Post on Friday, Sept. 29th at 2:30 pm and Saturday, Sept. 29th at 1:15 pm. The games will be played at Sports Center of Connecticut in Shelton, Conn. Second-year head coach Britni Smith will guide the team, which includes 12 letterwinners and 11 new student-athletes.

Senior forward Tatum White will wear a C on her jersey as the team captain with senor forward Rayla Clemons and graduate student forward Marielle McHale serving as alternate captains. An alternate captain last season, White has scored 34 points, including 12 goals and 22 assists, in 84 games and is a three-time American Hockey Coaches Association All-American Scholar. Clemons, who will fill the role of alternate captain for the second season in a row, has tallied 26 points, including 10 goals and 16 assists, in 83 games, while McHale, who returned to the team for a sixth season, has scored 19 points (seven goals and 12 assists) in 131 games at Syracuse.

 More About the Orange:
- In September, Smith served as a camp coach for Canada's National Women's Team at its Fall Festival Training Camp. Former Orange defenseman Jessica DiGirolamo '22 was one of the players invited to the selection camp. The second-year Orange head coach has held a number of coaching roles with Hockey Canada since 2014. Smith was an assistant coach for the National Women's U-18 Team in 2016 and 2020, helping to guide both teams to an IIHF World Championship silver medal finish, the National Women's Development Team in 2018-19, and the National Women's Development Camp in 2014.
- Sophomore Maya D'Arcy earned 2023 CHA All-Rookie Team honoree. The defender scored seven points, including one goal and six assist, and had 31 blocks.Â
- The Orange coaching staff includes second year associate head coach Heather Farrell and second year assistant coach and Syracuse graduate Megan Quinn '18, in addition to goaltender coach Nick Harper, who joined the Orange prior to the season.
- Academic Excellence
- Forward Tatum White earned the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors, awarded to student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the ice. White is a three-time American Hockey Coaches Association All-America Scholar and a three-time College Hockey America (CHA) All-Academic selection.
- Five members of the 2023-24 roster were named Krampade/ AHCA All-American Scholars last season, including three-time honorees White and Sarah Thompson, and first-time members Kambel Beacom, Gabrielle Dougherty and Charlotte Hallett. All five student-athletes were also named to the 2022-22023 CHA All-Academic Team.
- Eighteen student-athletes were awarded 2022-2023 CHA All-Academic Honors. Goaltender Arielle DeSmet, Class of 2023, and current forward Marielle McHale have earned this award five times during their time at Syracuse.
