SYRACUSE, NEW YORK -- Another top-10 opponent awaits the Orange when No. 7 Syracuse hosts No. 9 North Carolina on Saturday, March 16. Opening draw in the JMA Wireless Dome is set for 12 p.m.

Saturday is Otto's Kids Club Day at the Dome. in addition, the Orange will celebrate Alumni Weekend and Team IMPACT Day.

TAKING ON THE BEST
Saturday's game will be the fourth this season for Syracuse against a top-10 opponent. Nine of this week's top 25, including seven of the top 10, are on the Orange's 2024 schedule. After opening the campaign at defending national champion and top-ranked Northwestern, Syracuse has faced then No. 2 Notre Dame, No. 9 Maryland and No. 18 Army.

The Orange improved to 3-0 in ACC play with a 15-5 victory at Virginia Tech last weekend. Syracuse never trailed as it scored the first seven goals of the game. Olivia Adamson, Emma Ward and Maddy Baxter scored three goals each, while Katie Goodale caused a career-high five turnovers.

Syracuse is now 4-3 overall after the win. Saturday's game starts a stretch where Syracuse will play four of five games in the JMA Dome. Six of the Orange's eight games in March are home games.

North Carolina defeated East Carolina, 14-6, on Tuesday to improve its record to 6-2. The Tar Heels are 2-1 in ACC action.

Ashley Humphrey and Caitlyn Wurzburger lead the North Carolina offense this season. Humphrey has a team-high 37 points and 25 assists, while Wurzburger's 18 goals lead the squad.

Saturday's game marks the 20th all-time meeting between Syracuse and North Carolina. The Tar Heels hold an 12-7 advantage in the series. The squads met twice last season. The Orange defeated North Carolina, 14-12, in Chapel Hill during the regular season. The second meeting took place in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament in Charlotte.

Trailing 12-3, the Orange scored four-straight goals to cut the deficit to 12-7 with 5:08 to play in the third quarter. That was as close as Syracuse would get as North Carolina responded with a 3-0 scoring run and went on to a 15-9 victory.
