BLACKSBURG, Virginia -- No. 5 Syracuse looks to maintain its perfect ACC record in a road bout with the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday, March 9. Opening draw is set for noon in Blacksburg.

ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse (3-3, 2-0) is coming off a 13-12 overtime loss Tuesday against the No. 12 Stony Brook Seawolves. Emma Tyrrell once more led the Orange with three goals, while Olivia Adamson and Emma Ward each added a pair. Maddy Baxter recorded two points, caused two turnovers, secured three draw controls and scooped up a ground ball in the loss, while Bianca Chevarie contributed four ground balls.

SCOUTING THE HOKIES
Virginia Tech enters Saturday's game with a 5-2 mark, including a 1-1 record in league play, after a 20-7 loss at then No. 1 Boston College last Sunday. The Hokies enter middle-of-the-pack in numerous statistical categories in the ACC, including points per game (eighth), shots per game (sixth), shot percentage (sixth) and save percentage (seventh).

Kayla Downey is tied for seventh in the nation with 35 points, and also ranks third in the ACC with 20 assists. Sarah Gresham (44) and Olivia Vergano (43) have combined for 87 draw controls, ranking first and second in the conference, respectively.Â

Jocelyn Torres has started all seven games in goal, posting a .405 save percentage and 10.81 goals against average.

THE SERIES
Saturday's matchup will be the 17th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Virginia Tech. The Orange lead the series, 16-1, with their only loss coming in double overtime in 2018.Â

The two teams last faced off in last year's ACC Tournament quarterfinals in Charlotte, with the Orange taking it by a score of 14-12 and advancing to the conference semifinals. Emma Tyrrell notched three points and secured three draw controls in the win, while Delaney Sweitzer stopped seven shots and scooped up four ground balls.
