
Orange Sweep Harry Lang Invite

The Syracuse cross country teams swept their season opener, winning the Harry Lang Invitational at Colgate on Saturday.
The Orange women took the top-eight places and 10 of the top-12 spots on the day to secure 15 points. The men also earned the minimum, by posting  the first-six finishers.
Baneet Bains was the women's top finisher, completing the 5K in 18:15.3. Madeline Heintz (2nd/18:19.4), Jayden Harberts (3rd/18:21.5), Grace Finnegan (4th/18:23.1), Beatriz Fernandes (5th/8:25.2), Bethany Steiner (6th/18:26.1), Justus Holden-Betts (7thj/18:36.0), and Olivia Shattuck (8th/18:49.8), all finished before any other team's competitors.
Leah Futey (19:04.7) and Caroline Kirby (19:04.9) took 11th and 12th, respectively, while Barbora Svoboda (14th) and Sarah Cobb (16th) rounded out the field.
Buffalo was second to SU, finishing with 62 points.
Julian Franjieh was the top finisher in the men's opener, finishing in 19:18.2 over the 6k course. The Orange's next five finishers weren't far behind, with Eamon Burke (2nd/19:25.3), Kamari Miller (3rd/19:31.3), Ruben Rojas Betanzos (4th/19:35.7) Solomon Holden-Betts (5th/19:41.8) and Gabriel Planty (6th/19:45.7) all finishing in the top six.
Colgate was the runner-up in the men's race, 35 points behind the Orange.
'Cuse is back in action Sept.13 at the Spiked Shoe Invitational at Penn State.
