Syracuse women's basketball hits the road for another ACC challenge, traveling to Winston-Salem to face Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon. The Orange (12-2, 2-1 ACC) enter the matchup riding momentum from Thursday's 82-72 victory over Florida State at the JMA Wireless Dome, where freshman Uche Izoje delivered a dominant performance with 21 points and 17 rebounds.
The Orange have been one of the ACC's biggest surprises this season, currently in the top third of the conference with the league's best winning percentage at 85.7%. Syracuse's success has been built on a potent inside-outside combination, with Izoje leading a formidable frontcourt presence while guards Dominique Darius, Laila Phelia, and Sophie Burrows provide scoring punch from the perimeter. The trio has combined to average over 33 points per game, giving head coach Felisha Legette-Jack multiple offensive weapons to deploy.
The Orange's dominance on the glass has been a key factor in their success. Syracuse ranks second in the nation in offensive rebounds per game with 19.1, consistently generating second-chance opportunities and wearing down opponents. Defensively, the Orange have been equally impressive, ranking second in the ACC in steals per game with 11.9 while Izoje anchors the paint with a conference-leading 2.9 blocks per game.
Syracuse holds a comfortable 10-3 all-time advantage in the series against Wake Forest and has won three consecutive meetings. The Orange are 4-3 in Winston-Salem historically and will be looking to secure their second straight road victory in the series. Wake Forest (12-3, 2-1 ACC) enters the contest having won two of their last three games and will provide a stern test for the Orange in just their second road game of the ACC season and first since a 78-69 win at SMU on Dec. 7.
Sunday's game tips off at 2 PM and will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra, giving fans an opportunity to watch Syracuse continue its impressive ACC campaign even if they are unable to make the trip to North Carolina.Â
