SYRACUSE, NEW YORK --Â No. 5Â Syracuse is set for another top-10 battle when it hosts No. 9 Maryland on Saturday, Feb. 17 at noon in the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange enter the contest with a 1-1 record, while the Terrapins are 1-0.

Saturday will be Syracuse's 15 For Life game, in a complete-day partnership with the Orange men's lacrosse team and both Maryland programs. ORANGE UPDATE
Syracuse notched its first win of 2024 with an 18-7 victory against No. 18 Army on Wednesday night in the JMA Dome. Senior Natalie Smith and junior Payton Rowley led the Orange with four goals each, while senior Emma Ward and junior Olivia Adamson had five points apiece.

Adamson has a team-high 11 points this season, while Smith and Ward are right behind with 10 apiece. Adamson and Smith also lead the way with seven goals each.

SCOUTING THE TERRAPINS
Maryland opened the 2024 season with a 16-3 victory against Saint Joseph's. Eloise Clevenger assisted on seven of the Terrapins' 16 goals. Six players scored multiple goals for Maryland in the win. Emily Sterling started in goal and recorded nine saves in the first half.

THE SERIES
Saturday's game marks the 27th all-time meeting between Syracuse and Maryland. The Terrapins lead the series with the Orange, 23-3.

Syracuse opened its inaugural season in 1998 at Maryland. The teams have met five times in the NCAA Tournament as well as the championship game of the 2014 ACC Tournament. Two of Syracuse's wins in the series came in College Park. The Orange's 10-9 victory in 2012 sanpped the Terrapins' 36-game home winning streak.

Last season's meeting took place in the JMA Wireless Dome. Syracuse led by one at the end of the first quarter, 6-5, and took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring Maryland 5-1, to take an 11-6 halftime lead.

Syracuse led by as many as nine in the second half, and back-to-back goals by Emma Tyrrell and Savannah Sweitzer gave the Orange a 20-11 win, their first against Maryland in the JMA Dome.

Meaghan Tyrrell scored six goals and dished out five assists for a career-high 11 points, while Delaney Sweitzer made 13 saves and picked up three ground balls.
