Orange Hosts Bearcats in Sunday Matinee

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- No. 5/6 Syracuse goes for its longest BIG EAST regular-season winning streak in program history when it hosts Cincinnati in the Carrier Dome on Sunday, April 14 at 1 p.m. Admission is free of charge.
The Orange (8-3, 4-0) defeated Louisville on Friday night for its 16th consecutive victory in regular-season conference play, dating back to the 2011 season. It marks the second time Syracuse has won 16 straight league games. After losing its first conference game of the season in 2007, the Orange won its next four league games and won two games in the BIG EAST Tournament. SU was undefeated in regular-season play in 2008 and again won two games in the conference tournament. The Orange won its first three BIG EAST games in 2009 before losing to Georgetown.
THE SERIES
Syracuse has won all five previous meetings between the two squads. Last season, the Orange beat the Bearcats on their home field, 22-5.
A CLOSER LOOK AT THE ORANGE
Syracuse jumped out to an early lead and defeated rv/rv Louisville 19-7 on Friday, April 12. in the Carrier Dome. Senior Michelle Tumolo played a part in each of SU's first three tallies, posting a goal and two assists. The Orange led 5-0 before Louisville found the back of the net at the 16:59 mark. Syracuse closed out the half on a 6-0 scoring run to take a 12-3 lead into the locker room at intermission.
The second half featured more offense from SU as it led by as many as 13. Tumolo and junior Alyssa Murray led the Orange offense with seven points each.
SCOUTING THE BEARCATS
Cincinnati enters Sunday's game with a 6-6 overall record and an 0-4 mark in league play. The Bearcats lost to Connecticut, 15-2 on Friday night.
Three players lead a balanced offense for Cincinnati. Kylie Ramsland, Taylor Young and Megan Bell have each more than 20 points this season. Meg Gulmi has started every game in goal for the Bearcats. She entered this weekend with a 10.85 goals-against average and a .458 save percentage.
