High School: Coached by Les Farms, Neil and Greg Rogers and Doug Frost...attended Narromine High School until 11th grade and then attended Waverley College for a year...posted senior-year times of 24.92 in the 50m free, 53.98 in the 100m freestyle, 59.82 in the 100m butterfly, 29.92 in the 50m butterfly, 1:02.87 in the 100m backstroke...his career-best times were 23.89 in the 50m freestyle, 52.89 in the 100m freestyle, 25.50 in the 50m butterfly, 57.74 in the 100m butterfly...served as team captain his senior year...named to the All-Schools Team in 1997 and 1998...earned CAS and CIS team honors in 1997 and 1998.
Personal: Born March 21, 1980...son of Ron and Barbara Newman...has two sisters...majoring in health and exercise science.
